US Army Corporal John M. Dawson, 22, Whitinsville (Northbridge)/Upton, MA – 19,20 APR ’15
The family of US Army CPL John Dawson has requested that Patriot Guard Riders be present at the funeral of their beloved John.
Corporal Dawson was killed on April 8, 2015 in Jalalabad, Afghanistan by an Afghan National Army soldier after a meeting between Afghan leaders and a US embassy official. He was on an escort mission and was killed while in the provincial governor’s compound.
Cpl Dawson was a combat medic assigned to First Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, Third Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. He trained for service at Ft Sill, Okla, Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio and Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
Corporal Dawson enlisted in the Army in 2012 after a year at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. After basic training, he volunteered to be a combat medic.
WAKE:
We have been requested to stand at Cpl Dawson’s wake. It is of fairly long duration. Please feel free to stagger your presence at the wake and stand for however long you can manage.

IMPORTANT: We may be forced to park our bikes on a grassy area that may be be prone to having your kickstand sink into the earth. Everyone, bring a kickstand shoe or pad.
Also, please be aware that there will be certain road closures along the marathon route on the Monday of the funeral.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a member of the PGR to attend missions. All individuals are welcome. We encourage all who wish to attend and participate to do so. Unless otherwise stated all of our missions are open to anyone whether they ride or not. If this will be your first mission please go to the staging location as indicated and you will be briefed by the FLC (Flag Line Captain) or RC (Ride Captain). Please remember to dress for the weather and the event in which you will be attending. Dress comfortably but respectfully.
